This pendant was crafted at the beginning of the 20th century, around 1910. It was an era of great change. The industrialization was in full swing and new crafting techniques were being developed. In this platinum and gold pendant, the forces of the new and the old can be seen folded together. At the center is a Madonna, holding the baby Jesus in her arms. They are carved into mother-of-pearl, mother natures pure beauty. Around the pendant tiny seed pearls are mounted to a platinum frame, the back is made out of yellow gold.

Here, man shows its talent of bending material to its will, using the newest techniques at its disposal. The setting of the diamond encircled in a tiny round frame, is typical for the period. By working with platinum, a refined framework is created that can hold both diamonds, the mother-of-pearl image as well as serving as a solid frame for the lines of seedpearls lobing around it.
