Dendritic agate, also referred to as tree stone, is one of the most evocative stones around, because it looks like it encapsulates tiny landscapes made out of plants, trees, branches or ferns.
In reality it is stone from the calcedony family, formed within the cavities of volcanic rock. It took many centuries for the traces of manganese dioxide and iron oxide to leave these beautiful, plant-like shapes. Each pattern left is unique and its misty cloudy nature makes it appear like a moment out of a forest day in fall. these cufflinks were crafted at the beginning of the 20th century.
Antique 18k gold tree stone cufflinks
The cufflinks are made out of 18 gold. They are marked with a french import hallmark. They weigh approx. 8 grams. The medaillon shaped cufflinks measure 1.6 cm in length and are 1.1 cm broad. Their chains measure 2.2 cm. The dendritic agate front is backed by mother of pearl at the back.
