19th century Fromont-Meurice styled necklace.
This highly decorative necklace, with the little childs faces surrounded by vines, reminds us of the romanticism of the early-19th century. Specifically to the work of the highly popular jewellery maker named Francois Desire Froment-Meurice (1802-1855). The French goldsmith and jeweller Froment-Meurice became famous for his jewellery with baroque elements. He created entire sceneries in his bracelets and necklaces. Faces and figures framed by flowers and leaves. The baroque elements were coupled with Neo Gothic and Neo Renaissance styled themes. And this chain features exactly what Froment-Meurice was all about.
